Mission

Overarching goals of the TAS are promoting and fostering Knowledge, Education, Culture Language, understanding and practicing of religious beliefs and Spirituality, all in accordance with Vedic principles for the common good, enlightenment and betterment among its members and the wider community, working in collaboration with civil society and other organizations having similar goals.

In general, the TAS purpose is to instill among its members and the community at large, the value of service in promoting goodwill, peace and harmony among all living things.

TAS was originally established to meet the needs of displaced immigrant communities comprising families of mostly South Asian and Indo—Caribbean descent, whose culture, language, education and beliefs are based upon Vedic principles. Programs and services Offered by the TAS through Vedic Cultural Center (VCC) were able ta and continue to meet the needs of this community, thereby eliminating the anguish they had experienced in not having access a convenient place and programming appropriate to practicing and experiencing their culture and values.

The South Asian and Indo—Caribbean communities serviced by this organization have since been able to enhance their living experiences and contribute meaningfully back to their respective communities and the wider society.

The continuity of the TAS also provides the means to pass on the cultures and values to future generations, this assures them their identity, a secure place in society and a proven environment for them to learn and execute respect for all levels at society including Governmental and Civil bodies, teachers, and parents. The positive impact TAS activities is also evidenced in over 300 volunteers drawn from the South Asian and Indo—Caribbean communities that have benefited directly or indirectly, and who are now giving back by volunteering at different levels and in various capacities promoting and delivering programs & services at the organization’s Vedic Cultural Centre. Over the course of the existence, we also provide services to the general public, e.g. Blood Donor clinics, yoga and health and wellness programs and occasionally keynote speakers on health and wellness issues.
